A Prince & a carnival...

As you know Colton was voted by his class to represent them as Prince and the annual Halloween carnival ~ Go Colton!

Colton and Maggie didn't win King and Queen, but don't they make a handsome prince and beautiful princess?

Then it was time to get into our costumes and enjoy the carnival -
Kylie as Tinkerbell...

Colton as a member of the US Air Force (like the gun? =) )

Just clowning around...

Cecil and I took a little time off to getaway for our upcoming anniversary - (10 years can you believe it!)

We went to Fort Worth Stockyards, I have never been to Billy Bobs before - it was awesome. They have walls filled with hand prints of the many many famous people who have been through - the pictures do them no justice....
There was everyone from the Temptations, to the CNN news team to Loretta Lynn...

In another room the walls were filled with guitars of all shapes and sizes.....

Most of the guitars were played by the performers there at Billy Bobs and then autographed by them and their band and given to the club...

If you ever make it out to the StockYards you have to stop by Riscky's Steakhouse - YUM!!
I never realized how much there was to see and do - we did a lot of walking, but had a wonderful time...

Then it was time for the rodeo - I really enjoy rodeos myself and this was a good one....

The long horn wouldn't turn around so I could get a good picture of how Huge it's horns were...
The calf scrammble is always one of my favorites - I love watching all the kiddos trying so hard to be the one to win...

I usually cover my eyes for most of the bull riding =) , but it's one of my favorites too...

It was really nice to get away - I love you Cecil so much - I am so lucky that I found you (or you found me) - which ever the case I look forward to the next 10, 20, 30, 40 years with you!

More airman pics...

Chaz and his training flight went to Camp Bullis for 3 weeks to practice "war". They lived in tents, hiked with machine guns, practiced identifying IEDs and ate MREs.
I can't say enough how proud I am of Chaz and all the other men and women who have made the choice to protect this country and all of us.

Donkey Basketball

We were all excited for the annual Donkey basketball game in Avery. Chaz got to come home this weekend so we all headed out to the school to enjoy the excitement!

It all started with the Pledge to the flag....

Then a quick game of pick the dollar up without touching the floor....
This poor girl really gave it her all - she ended up winning, but not on this try
And then finally time for the game to start. A quick review for those of you who have never had the honor of attending a Donkey Basketball game.....
1 - you cannot let go of your donkey - EVER
2 - you must be sitting on your donkey to shoot or steal the ball

The game was so much fun - donkeys truely are stubborn and it was fun to watch the players trying to push, pull or even drag their donkey down the court. There were a few of the animals that just weren't in the mood for a rider so they bucked them off every time they tried to get on.
Avery ended up winning the game 36 - 8 over DeKalb. Great job to both schools though - they did MUCH better than I would have done!
The fun ended with a game of musical donkeys. The players were FFA moms and booster club members - I am telling you these ladies were ruthless - and all to win the title of Miss Jackass 2009!

Remember this is an annual event, so if you find yourself in our neck of the woods next October, come join the fun! =)
